Busy..Busy…Busy. Busyyyy (Using the “ndaniiiii” theory)… Hasn’t the use of this adjective become so cliché?
Nonetheless, I am well and I hope you are too. After the launch of the Youth Debate on 29th April 2017 by the Youth Klan, there is a huge sense of relief on my side. It was a risk since you never know what could happen or if people would turn up or not and we would have to hide in shame (hahahaha). Nonetheless, it was an amazing experience, with an amazing team and thank you to all that showed up or participated.
“I am now back” ( Dom Toretto voice, if you are familiar with Fast & Furious 🙂 ).
There is a book I am reading called “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Elson. I was recommended for by one of my boys, Bobby Black and decided to follow up. You all know when you have a pilot as a friend and they make odd phrases such as “let’s swing by at 1900HRS” as if “7pm” lost value. I digress haha.. I know you’re probably thinking it’s a self-help thing and immediately shut your mind. However, before you lock your smart pants, take a look at it since it demystifies many issues . I am in chapter 4 but so far there is an analogy that has captured my thinking with regards to risks, actions and motivation.
Sometimes we find ourselves seeking motivation. Motivation to lose weight, invest our money, live a great life, inculcate morals, complete our studies, date good people etc. Motivation has become so enshrined in our thoughts that it has even become a career for many. Not that I am disrespecting the field, it does serve a great purpose. However, why do we rely so much on motivation and our feelings to do what we ought to do……. You need to pass your exams…. Read!! You want to be the CEO….. WORK SMART….. You want to be rich….. DO STUFF!!! Do not seek motivation…. Do something (not the song hahaha but something).
If you were to enter a dark room, would you seek motivation and vibes or would you frantically search for the switch? Such is life. There is no perfect situation, there is no ideal temperature to exercise your thoughts and the only limiting factor is you! Do not let yourself down, do something that takes you where you need to be. I should however make it clear that I do not endorse vices such as backstabbing professionally, lose morals and stuff. Do the right things.
Even the good book states clearly in Ecclesiastes 11:4 (Amplified version), “He who watches the wind [waiting for all conditions to be perfect] will not sow [seed], and he who looks at the clouds will not reap [a harvest]. ” You cannot and should not wait to study the wind for perfection, sometimes you have to take risks to achieve things.
“A journey of a thousand miles starts with one”, Lao Tzu. Please note that it does not start with NONE. It is very easy to start heading towards your goals and at the same time it is very easy not to start heading anywhere. Only time will reveal the effects of your choices.
PS: Thank you for the birthday wishes. #26on26th
